Melissa Oneil

MelissaMelissa Crystal O'Neil, born July 12 1988, is a Canadian actress/singer. O'Neil was the first Canadian female winner of Canadian Idol's 3rd season won it in 2005. As an actress, she is famous for her performances as Two as Rebecca / Portia Lin in the Syfy science fiction show Dark Matter and as Officer Lucy Chen on the ABC police procedural drama series The Rookie.Although she was praised highly by the judges, she experienced major setbacks in both the Top 10 and Top 9 weeks of the finals as she was voted in the bottom three and the bottom two and bottom two, respectively. Shocked by this, the judges advised viewers to vote for contestants such as Melissa who had the best vocal abilities. O'Neil was acknowledged for her talent and never fell back to the third place. Zack Werner declared that O'Neil was "a threat" to win the whole competition. O'Neil as well as Rex Goudie made it to the final two of the show on September 7 on the 7th of September in 2005. After another impressive performances, Werner declared that "The King [Kalan Porter] has passed away long live Queen". O'Neil defeated Goudie in the grand finale results ceremony on September 14th, 2005 to be named Canada's third Idol.
