
Alexandra Rose Raisman, born May 25, 1994 born on May 25, 1994, is an American retired artistic gymnast. She has also been twice Olympian. She served as captain of both the 2012 and 2016 U.S. Olympic women's gymnastics teams. At the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, she was awarded a gold medal in the team competition, making her and her teammate Gabby Douglas the sole Americans who have won back-to-back team gold medals. Raisman also won silver in the individual all around and for floor exercise. She is the 3rd most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history, behind Shannon Miller and Simone Biles who have won six Olympic medals.Raisman was also part of the gold-winning American teams at the 2011 and 2015 World Championships, and the bronze medalist in the world championships on floor exercise in the year 2011. She was also two-time champion of the national team on floor exercise (2012, 2015) she was the 2012 champion of the national team on the balance beam, and a five-time medalist in the all-around event at the national championships (silver in 2016, and bronze in 2010, 2011, 2012 and in 2015). She was inducted into International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame (2013).
